TREAT KILLER HERDSMEN LIKE BOKO HARAM - HEKAN PRESIDENT

The President of United Church of Christ in Nigeria also known as HEKAN Chruch, Reverend Amos G. Kiri has called on the Federal government to apply the same massive attacks used by the combined efforts of the gallant armed forces of Nigeria in dislodging the dreaded Boko Haram from Sambisa forest and other parts of the North-East on killer herdsmen who are terrorising innocent Nigerians.

He made the call while speaking at the 51st annual convention of the church themed 'Restoration'.

The country according to him has suffered a lot in the hands of killer herdsmen, saying they deserve punitive measures, same as was meted on the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.

"The continuous killing by herdsmen across the country is worrisome and must be brought to an end. So also the succeeding war on the Boko Haram insurgents must be sustained and killings across the country must be stopped," he said while he urged Government to provide adequate security for returnees from Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps to avoid unwanted killings.

Commenting on the economic situation of the country, Reverend Kiri urged the Federal Government to provide palliative measures to cushion the hardship Nigerians are going through. He further urged government to revive moribund industries so as to provide employment for the teeming youths in the country.

While he commended the effort of Kaduna state in finding lasting solution to recent crises in Southern Kaduna, he urged that those behind the killings be made to face the wrath of the law. He however assured of the church readiness to make Kaduna State a better place to live again.
