The
Gwarimpa police division has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered
a locally made pistol.
The
FCT Police Command spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, in a statement at the weekend
said the two suspects, whom he give their names as Nyam Philips 24, and Isaac
Kaan, 23, both reside at Mpape.
He
said they were arrested following a distress call while robbing some residents,
saying two live ammunitions, one hammer and one house breaking implement were
also recovered from them.
Manzah
said the suspects have been transferred to the FCT CID for further
investigation and prosecution.
“We
also wish to advise residents to be security conscious and should not keep
cash, laptops and other valuables in their cars,’’the statement said.
The
statement further said two persons were also arrested by the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the FCT command, who specialise in stealing cars.
He
gave the name of the two suspects as Mohammed Sani, and Nafiu Bala, adding that
they targeted vehicles that were parked, saying they were arrested at One Man
Village near Mararaba in Nasarawa State.
According
to him, three Toyota Camry cars with registration numbers EN 933 ABC; YAB 661 EW;
BL 726 RSH were recovered from them.
He,
however, said the command was poised to flush criminals out of circulation and
fulfil its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property of FCT
residents, while cautioning residents to be wary of strange persons who lurk
around their streets.
