Members of a vigilante group have killed three suspected
armed robbers operating along Agbede and Oshokoshoko axis of Kogi State.
Our blog reporter learnt that the armed robbers blocked
the Agbede and Oshokoshoko road between 12 midnight and 1 am yesterday and
robbed passengers of their belongings.
A witness who was a victim of the robbery incident
disclosed that their vehicle ran into the robbery gang and were robbed, but
that men of the vigilante got wind of the incident and stormed the area,
engaging the robbers in a gun battle that led to the death of three robbers
before the arrival of the operatives from the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Kogi State Police Command Spokesman, Mr. Williams
Ayah confirmed the killing of three robbers, saying the Divisional Police
Officer in charge of Kabba Police Division received a distress call and
immediately deployed his men.
“On getting there, it was discovered that the three armed
robbers after an encounter with the vigilante fled into the bush but on combing
the bush, the Police squad discovered three dead bodies of the armed robbers
who were masked,” he said.
