A
Lagos State High Court in Igbosere has sentenced two men, Okwumo Nwabufo and
Olisaeloka Ezike, to death by hanging for the killing of Cynthia Osokogu.
Miss Osokogu was the daughter of a retired
Major General in the Nigerian Army who was allegedly murdered by her Facebook
friends in July 2012 at Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate in Festac area of
Lagos.
She
was a Post graduate student of Nasarawa State University before she was
allegedly lured to Lagos where she was killed by the convicts.
In
a judgement which lasted for more than four hours, the presiding judge, Justice
Olabisi Akinlade found the two men guilty of conspiracy, murder and stealing.
But
the judge discharged two other accused charged alongside the convicted two.
The
two convicts were on February 8 arraigned alongside Orji Osita, and Ezike Nonso
on a six-count charge of conspiracy, murder, stealing, recklessness, negligence
and possession of stolen goods.
In
sentencing the convicts, the judge said" Both of you should be hanged till
you are dead. May the Lord have mercy on your souls."
