The Nigeria Labour
Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, has said the NLC in conjunction with
Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC)
will picket some media houses who he said have refuse to pay salaries to media
practitioners.
Speaking in Abuja while
briefing journalists on the plans of the Organized Labour to hold a wild protest
in Abuja and Lagos to canvass for good governance and for both government and
private sector in Nigeria to adhere the principle of rule of law which he said
protects the rights of citizens, Ayuba, who said that NUJ brought complaints
against some media houses to NLC, alleging they refusal to pay salaries ranging
from 4 months to 18 months to journalists and other staff, expressed worries,
saying “These journalists are workers and have responsibilities to carter for,
so we will speak for them”
